What is a website template?

Had you been browsing the internet regularly, you would have come across a number of websites either advertising or selling website templates. These are nothing but readymade web pages that can be easily converted into live websites with slight modifications.

Usually readymade websites contain a home page and an internal page with dummy content and images, which can be edited according to your wishes. With some knowledge of html and Photoshop you can do it yourself.

If you like to have a website of your own, you can download these templates either for a fee or for free. While programmers take utmost care to provide clean coding for templates that are sold for a price, free templates are often not so search engine friendly.

Learning HTML or Photoshop is easy with so many websites offering free online tutorials. Although you can edit the templates with a note pad it is easy to use software programs such as FrontPage or Dreamweaver to edit the templates.
